Design and concept
The main focus of this text heavy website lays on the huge amount of small daily articles Batty Weber wrote during his career as a journalist and author for 60 years in the so-called «Abreisskalender». The design had to be simple yet modern, while respecting the time period the author lived in. An aspect we reached with a careful selection of modern and classic typefaces, muted colours and faded images.
Search and discover
A long list of titles, combined with a timeline and a powerful filter and search engine, help navigating through the large amount of articles easily. A simple click on a title opens a side panel with a digitized version of the article and with a second click a scanned photo of the original appears in comparison to the digitized text.
Filter and animations
The users can also use the filter to narrow down the search results. Also, the web site uses animations as an integral part in guiding the user through the interface and simplifying the navigation. The user can hereby better understand how to use the site, which also helps bring the whole experience to life.
